Fortis Vision is extremely proud to be awarded the Armed Forces Covenant Gold standard. The Gold Award is the highest accolade, recognising Fortis Vision’s deep commitment to supporting the Armed Forces.
Fortis Vision is committed to supporting the Armed Forces and wants to strengthen its knowledge about the issues facing them and their communities.
The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme is open to all businesses, charitable, and public services organisations, encouraging employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same. Awardees must align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant, which is a promise that those who serve or have served in the armed families, including their families, will be treated fairly.
The covenant represents a commitment to being a forces-friendly employer by recognising that reservists and veterans bring multiple transferable skills and qualities that they have developed throughout their military careers. Only last year, Fortis Vision was awarded the Silver Award.
Support can be shown in various areas; by offering discounted services and financial aid or by helping veterans start a new career.
Fortis Vision has supported several veterans to start new careers, providing mentoring and funding training courses. One such beneficiary is Derek Binks, a former Lieutenant Colonel in the Gurkhas, who now works as Fortis Vision’s health and safety partner.
To achieve a Gold Award, Fortis Vision had to meet stringent criteria. This included proactively demonstrating our forces-friendly credentials as part of our recruiting and selection processes, being an exemplar within the construction industry by advocating support to defence people, providing at least 10 days additional fully paid leave for training for Reservist employees, and demonstrating an existing relationship with an appropriate defence representative.
Kristina Carrington, the Ministry of Defence’s Regional Employer Engagement Director for East Anglia, said:
On Thursday 29th September, employers and organisations were invited to attend a prestigious ceremony at the Royal Automobile Club in London to receive their Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Awards.
