Following the successful delivery of a project in central Northampton, Fortis Vision marked their expansion into the new build main contactor environment.
Already established as the market leader in Purpose Built Student Accommodation refurbishment, Fortis Vision completed the design and build of a three-storey student accommodation block, covering 944 square metres of new build (Abington Square Court) and 408 square metres of change of use refurbishment (Orient House), ready for the 2023/24 student intake.
Abington Square Court and Orient House are located in central Northampton, just 10-minutes from the University of Northampton (UoN), 5-minutes from the town centre and hospital, and 10-minutes from the train station. The project, for private investment company Abington Park Investments, included the refurbishment of an existing building to provide six one bedroom apartments alongside the construction of a new building comprising three floors of six cluster flats with a total of 35 individual en-suite bedrooms.
Rob Ottery, Lead Project Manager, at Fortis Vision said “These prime residential student accommodation works were completed in time for the September 2023/24 student intake.

Ricky Simmonds, Construction Director at Fortis Vision added “This project is a landmark for Fortis Vision’s new build sector, working with key contractors we have been able to demonstrate that we can carry out full turnkey solutions for clients to the high standards that Fortis Vision are known for. Abington Square Court marks the beginning of future new build projects for Fortis Vision”

The team at Fortis Vision worked expertly to overcome the challenges associated with the small island site and ensured that site access and material deliveries and storage were planned carefully, including the reordering of works where necessary.
The refurbishment part of the project incorporated the restoration of an existing Victorian frontage and the building has been constructed in a conservation area meaning the area has been designated for protection and enhancement due to its distinctive character and appearance”
