World Mental Health Day is recognised every year on the 10th October and this year the focus is on Workplace Mental Health.
A topic that is prevalent across all sectors but with the CIOB reporting that 97% of construction workers had felt stressed and 70% experienced depression over the past year, there is an undeniable negative impact of poor mental health within the industry.
At Fortis Vision, our specially trained Mental Health First Aiders are on hand on site and in our offices to provide support and signpost people for guidance should it ever be needed. We are registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme, that aims to improve the standards of the construction industry, and take the responsibility of promoting mental health awareness seriously via training, best practice, tool box talks and promoting the support available.

Fortis Vision’s Operations Director, Anthony Todd, has worked in the construction industry for 20 years “Not talking about your mental health can have serious health implications including lack of sleep, high blood pressure, anxiety and depression. We encourage everyone to talk about their mental health. There should be no judgement, just support for each other. Fortis Vision will always strive to encourage a safe working environment that fosters a supportive environment because the consequences of not talking about your mental health and what this can lead to is unthinkable.
