We were tasked to deliver the design and construction of a steel framed external cladding system including new parapet roof detail and brand new 9m high front entrance. The works were instructed to retransform a dated building, bringing it in-line with the modern design of the recently developed retail park that now surrounds the store. In addition to the external building fabric works, a complete refurbishment of the back of house areas was carried out, including: WCs, canteen, offices, hallways and a full LED lighting upgrade. Our team overcame a number of obstacles during the project, which were all resolved, while maintaining exceptional standards of quality.

The design process saw our team take the lead on developing full architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical drawings with various designers, specifically: internal and external fit-out; lighting; scaffold; steelwork; cladding; roofing; curtain wall and signage – leading to various planning applications relating to the works.

Our impressive site compound showcased the professionalism of the site whilst incorporating a secure walkway and associated crash barriers protecting the public at all times. The compound demonstrated our culture of safe working environments that are both functional and aesthetically complimentary to the store and client’s brand.

The extensive demolition works included the removal of the existing roof canopy structure as well as the existing entrance & exit lobby, all whilst the store remained at full trading capacity. A temporary store entrance and exit was provided for the duration of the works.

The LED lighting upgrade consisted of over 600 new fittings to a revised layout enhancing energy consumption efficiency to offer financial savings to the client. Major wiring reconfiguration works were required to achieve the design as well as the installation of an intelligent lighting control system. 100% of wastage recycled was achieved on this element of the project.

The store team were absolutely delighted with their fully refurbished toilet facilities and canteen. The back of house refurbishment consisted of new IPS panelling washroom systems and sanitaryware as well as new PVC panelling to the remaining walls, new hand dryers, new flooring, full decoration package and new kitchen all in-line with the client’s design principles and specifications.

A full new external signage package was installed as part of the works by the client nominated contractor facilitated and over-seen by us as Prinicpal Contractor.

Feedback received for the project from the store, public and client was all outstanding and we were proud to deliver on time and within budget to an exceptional standard.
