Efficient. Effective. Exceptional.

Fortis Vision is extremely proud to have delivered our latest in-occupation project at Sherren House, London.

Owned and operated by Unite Students, Sherren House comprises 251 en-suite bedrooms, as well as communal areas for students enrolled at Queen Mary University.

The work included new flooring, decoration, electrical upgrade, and new fixed and loose furniture across all bedrooms, and new flooring, toilets, cisterns, basins, and showers installed in all en-suite bathrooms, creating fresh and contemporary living spaces.

The kitchens, communal corridors, and stairwells also benefitted from complete decoration, breathing new life into the student accommodation. Finally, the Fortis Vision team installed a new energy heating management system. Each room was upgraded with Prefect IRUS controls and new electric heaters, allowing the building to be centrally controlled collating data and allowing annual energy savings of between 20% to 40%.

“It’s a pleasure working with Fortis Vision, the detail and care they take is what makes them one of the best companies to work alongside, the attention to detail and can-do attitude is brilliant and goes a long way. The contractors and management team are polite and caring, especially working in student areas and in rooms where students are occupying the adjacent flat.”

Before
After

The seven-week programme saw the Fortis Vision team deliver up to two full cluster flats per day, carefully managing student expectations while working closely with the Unite Students site-based and project teams. The daily programme was broken down by the hour to allow each trade an area to work safely and swiftly, with all operatives supporting one another working in unity.

Pre-contract organisation and coordination were key to the success of this project, something we pride ourselves on to consistently deliver exceptional, short time-frame refurbishments. Fortis Vision’s unique in-occupation model has been developed over the past four years with the aim to minimise resident impact whilst delivering a high-quality finish quickly and smoothly, ready for occupation less than 10 hours from the commencement of the works.

“Site set up was neat and tidy, work areas were cleaned and swept on a daily basis, always paying attention to H&S. The project finished well and was a success from the start, with rooms being refurbished in one day and students going back in. They loved it,”  Abu Boksh, estate projects manager at Unite Students said.

“Fortis Vision’s contracts manager always goes out of his way to ensure the works are completed and to the best standard, never an issue when adjusting the scope last minute to accommodate more work, takes on feedback and drives for improvement from the team. Never have to worry about the job when Fortis Vision are looking after it.”
